Trauma Recovery

You Know You’re Safe… So Why Can’t You Feel Like It?

Even the word joy might feel like a far-away star.

Letting in the love, care, and closeness from others – impossible!

Deep down, you feel uneasy. You can never quite relax.

You worry constantly: About how hard it is to be present, about what’s coming next, what’s around the corner.

Things that feel exciting for others, like dating, connecting with people, and pursuing dreams? Those things feel terrifying to you, and it makes you feel like something is wrong with you.

Feelings of Shame and Overwhelm…

Drag behind you like an evening shadow.

You feel too much, too strongly. And at the same time, you feel numb.

There you are, connecting with others, breathing in the ocean, standing in front of a piece of art… and you don’t feel much at all.

Some days, you feel a deep sense that something is wrong. That you are wrong.

Your Inner World Is at War with Itself

Parts of you have moved on from your childhood experiences and painful experiences in adulthood. Other parts didn’t.

That split creates a noisy inner world where you’re out of alignment with yourself.

The work is about bringing all the parts back into contact so you can get back to wholeness.

Targeting the Exact Moments When You Got Caught

The modalities I use are specifically designed to connect you with the painful moments from your past when you got caught.

Often, some parts of ourselves move on from the things that have happened to us. Other parts don’t. This creates a noisy inner world where we’re out of alignment with ourselves.

IFS (Internal Family Systems) recognizes that we’re made of different parts. Some moved forward. Some are still carrying the old fear. We then meet the parts, learn from them, and honor their wisdom.

AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Processing) works directly with emotions in the moment. Rather than just talking about what happened, you experience what it’s like to move through it.

EMDR helps your brain process, integrate, and file away memories still causing distress.

IFS, AEDP, EMDR, and other creative approaches to healing your nervous system help you get in touch with the calm, safe parts of yourself.

Traumatic experiences run deep. Thankfully, so do these extremely powerful approaches to resolving and healing trauma.

Feel Safe Enough to Dream

It’s time to break old patterns and move forward with your life.

You can move through the world feeling worthy. You can feel safe enough to dream.

As this work unfolds and your healing progresses, you will feel more connected to yourself, others, and your community.

I know it may be hard to imagine that from where you sit right now. So many before you have healed from what you hold inside, and so can you.

Reach Out When You’re Ready

You were not made to endure the moments of struggle, grief, and pain alone.

When we get back alongside one another, we can also grow our joy, our aliveness, and our connection. That’s the work, and it’s the part I love most.

I see clients in person in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and online. If any of this sounded like your life, I’d be glad to talk.
